The San Blas Archipelago and surrounding sea are the main attractions in Guna Yala—an indigenous comarca (autonomous territory) stretching for more than 200 km (120 miles) along Panama’s northeast coast. The comarca is composed of a thin strip of land dominated by a mountain range called the Serranía de San Blas and the 365 San Blas Islands that dot the coastal waters. Although much of the world still refers to this region by its former name, San Blas, you’ll endear yourself to residents by using the name they give to their home, Guna Yala. Note that you may also see it spelled Kuna Yala, but Guna leaders voted to change the spelling from Kuna to Guna in 2010.

    Hola, Yesenia

All four of us are back at our respective homes now, and we wanted to let you know that we were very pleased with the service provided by EcoCircuitos this trip. Our drivers were always very prompt, so every day started on time, and we always felt safe in their care. Park Eden and Los Establos were, as expected, excellent accomodations in all respects.

All of our guides were very knowledgable about their activities, and they were very pleasant fellows, as well. We got the trip off to an excellent start with Jose's tour of Casco Viejo, Panama Vieja and El Valle's attractions. We also found the Embera Encounter to be especially interesting and enjoyable, and would like to thank Jose for his excellent information about them and the area.
I'm sure Jim and Cheri would also like me to thank you once again for taking care of their extra luggage while we were in Boquete.
I will go to your web site, and if there is a place for customers to give you feedback that others may see, you may be sure my comments will be very, very positive.

    Thanks,

    Hi Annie,

I wanted to thank you and your staff for our wonderful day tours. D’Angelo and Joshua were delightful, professional and informative. My family greatly enjoyed all that we learned and saw and aside from the hundreds of photos we took I am happier to say that we take away great memories of Panama. Again, with much thanks and wishes for a wonderful new year.

Itinerary

Early in the morning our local staff will meet you at the hotel for a group transfer to the port of Carti, on the Caribbean Sea. Transfers to San Blas are made by the Gunas/Kunas in shared 4x4s. The road goes through Panama’s central mountain ridge towards the Caribbean Sea, in the middle of the spectacular scenery of the Guna forest. Upon your arrival to Carti, your local Guna guide will meet you for a boat expedition to one of the nearby community villages. The Guna former Kuna islands and communities are very picturesque and colorful. You also will have time to purchase the local Guna handcrafts: Molas (traditional patchwork) and learn about the process of making this beautiful art pieces. Guna Yala or San Blas is a place full of traditions; this beautiful land is a COMARCA (autonomous Guna territory) since 1930s when they got their independence from the Panamanian government. After visiting the village you will go to one of San Blas’ many islands for a relaxing time at the beach. Most of the islands are deserted, only inhabited by a small family that collects the entry tax. Some islands have great sandy beaches, others are ideal for snorkeling but all of them look like little pieces of paradise! After visiting the village you will go to one of San Blas’ paradise islands for snorkeling and relax. Lunch will be served on the island. Return to Panama City in the afternoon.
