This 7-day water safari explores some of Uganda’s most scenic and breath taking sites, including the famous Luwero Triangle, Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison River, the River Nile, and the Budongo Forest. But this is not just any Ugandan Safari. As well as trekking through a variety of terrains and getting up close with a number of wild animals including rhino, lion, elephant, and chimps, you will also have the opportunity to engage in a local clean water project, shadowing local residents as they build clean water wells in their community. This clean water project aims to provide safer sources of water in Uganda as well as improve local knowledge and practice of good hygiene. These efforts aim to increase wellbeing and productivity in the community by reducing illness related to poor sanitation. Add an extra 3 days to the trip and go jungle trekking to find a family of gorillas.
Visit a
rural charity project creating a source of clean drinking water. Do more for
the community. Fundraise for this project before you go.

Day 1:
ARRIVAL AND SETTING IN KAMPALA - A member of the Inspired Escapes team will
pick you up from Entebbe International Airport, Uganda. We will then drive 40
minutes to Kampala for dinner and overnight stay at the beautiful Cassia lodge.
Day 2:
TRANSFER TO THE COMMUNITY WATER WELLS PROJECT - Today you will be picked up
from your hotel and drive north to the famous Luwero Triangle to spend two full
days working on the community clean water project. Dinner and overnight at
Luwero Diocesse Guest House.
Day 3 &
4: COMMUNITY WATER PROJECT BEGINS (LUWERO) - You will stay in Luwero at the
clean water project for two days, understanding the challenges they face and
helping the field workers with building and maintaining water wells. At the end
of your stay you will have time to relax and celebrate a job well done. On your
last night in Luwero we will get everyone together for a BBQ. You will get the
chance to socialise and experience the local food (probably be a tasty goat or
chicken roast!). There will be plenty of eating and drinking, and as with any
Ugandan party there is sure to be a good amount of dancing! Tonight is for
celebrating your work in Luwero and saying goodbye to your hosts.
Day 5:
LUWERO TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK - After breakfast we drive to Murchison
Falls National Park, stopping over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking
and lunch. We will proceed to Murchison via the Budongo forest, the western arm
of the East African Rift Valley and Lake Albert. At the top of the roaring
Murchinson Falls we will take time to loosen up a bit and watch as the normally
1 kilometer wide river funnels itself through a 7m chasm. The 150m drop of the
falls creates a thunderous roar and a beautiful rainbow in a spiral of spray.
It is one of the most amazing spectacles in the Nile river. Finally, you can
take pleasure in the sunset as you drive to the Murchison River Lodge for
dinner and overnight.
Day 6:
MORNING GAME DRIVE AND AFTERNOON LUNCH CRUISE - Following an early morning cup
of tea or coffee we will start the day with a game drive in the northern parts
of the Murchison Falls National Park. You’ll see a diversity of wildlife,
including lions, leopards, giraffes, antelopes, elephants and many warthogs on
your Ugandan safari. There is lunch at the lodge before an afternoon boat trip
on the River Nile. The boat trip will take you to the bottom of the thundering
falls and includes a scenic view of the greatest hippo recreation ground in
Africa. As well as hippos you will see huge crocodiles, buffalos, elephants and
a variety of water birds, including the rare shoebill, cormorants, ducks,
bee-eaters, skimmers, fish eagles, kingfishers and herons. Dinner and overnight
at the Murchison River Lodge.
Day 7:
CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND A NATURAL WORK - After breakfast you will head off with
your packed lunch to Budongo forest, a dense natural forest, passing through
Bugungu gate. This will be followed by a walk through the dense tropical rain
forest. On the walk you could encounter different primate species such as
chimpanzees and monkeys. Lunch is served amongst the trees before returning to
the lodge to pick up our things. We will then drive back to Kampala arriving in
the evening for departure from Entebbe. Those continuing on to gorilla trekking
will overnight in Kampala.
