Spend a few days living in synchronicity with endangered Malaysian sea turtles on the isolated, yet naturally astounding Perhentian Islands.

On this adventurous conservation trip you will be learning about these fascinating marine creatures, whilst helping the local conservationists preserve their beautiful island home.

In the day you will snorkel with the sea turtles in the clear waters, taking photos of them and other extraordinary marine life. You will also be invited to conservation lectures by the research team to learn more about the turtles and their habitat amongst the coral reefs. At night, sit on the beaches and observe the clear, star-lit skies as you help protect the wildlife on Turtle Watch.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL, INTRODUCTION TO GREEN TURTLES & TURTLE WATCH - After a lovely 30-45 minutes boat ride over clear blue waters, you will arrive at the beautiful Perhentian Islands in the morning. A short orientation, village tour and local lunch will help you settle in. Our tour leaders will give you an introduction lecture on Green Turtles, which you’ll be working with over the coming days. Spend the day hours exploring the beaches and village, witnessing the untouched beauty of the islands and its wildlife. At night you’ll be going on Turtle Watch - guarding turtle nesting beaches, star gazing and storytelling will make this trip one never to forget.

DAY 2: SNORKEL TOUR, CORAL REEF CONSERVATION TALK & TURTLE WATCH - Today you will be swimming alongside the most amazing coral species, sharks and colourful fish. Before that though, a Coral Reef Conservation Talk will help you understand the oceans and reefs better. During the snorkel tour, you will collect data by actually swimming with the turtles and snapping photos of them. After a tasty lunch, you will conduct a beach clean-up to keep the turtle’s natural habitat clean, imperative for them to successfully nest and reproduce. Take a rest when needed, because tonight you will be on another Turtle Watch on the beach.

DAY 3: DEBRIEF & CHECK OUT - After two intense days full of activities and information it’s time to reminisce and take the 12pm boat back to the mainland.
