  • Highlights of Fatehpur Sikri - Discover the former Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri, which is literally translated as City of Victory. Built and founded in the 16th century by the third Mughal Emperor, Akbar, his complex of monuments and temples was a planned imperial city. Akbar, who held ideals of a syncretistic faith, hoped to bring leaders of many religions together here. Unfortunately just ten years after completion the city was deserted due to drought and water shortages. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s a marvellous stop between Agra to Jaipur. Marvel at Buland Darwaza, the main entrance to this ancient city, and visit the elegant and sacred Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque). Spend time exploring the Tomb of Shaikh Salim Chisti, and Birbal Bhawan, an intricate building dedicated to Akbar’s greatest court advisor. Venture into the inner court and harems where Akbar’s queen Jodha Bai, and other wives resided.
