Amazing ExperienceI did the 1 day tuk tuk experience and I loved every second! Honestly one of the best experiences of my life.
It starts with a lesson to learn how to drive the tuk tuk before going on the roads. They are very patient if you struggle at first, as I did.
The temple was the first stop which was beautiful and it very interesting to learn about it and about the monks.
Next on arrival to the elephant sanctury a really tasty lunch was provided before you got stuck in with the elephants. The elephant sanctuary was lovely too, feeding them was a great experience followed by a walk with them to the river where you could bath them (take swim wear as you do get wet) the elephants were very happy and clearly looked after by their owners.
The final part the water rafting, that was a perfect way to round off the day. Very peaceful (unless you go past any locals who splash you) but in general a lovely chilled way to end an amazing day!
The staff were all super friendly and helpful and the service they provided was well organised and stress free. Communication with them before the trip was good and transport to and from the tuk tuks via mini bus was provided from outside the hotel.
An experience not to be missedMy wife Carol and I have just spent an amazing day with OA and Graham of the Tuk Tuk club, Chiangmai.
This is definitely an experience NOT to be missed.
We were picked up by OA from our hotel, a little late due to an unforeseen accident on the road, on his way to pick us up from our hotel. OA was most apologetic for his late arrival.
We were then driven to the Tuk Tuk driver training ground where I received excellent instruction into the mastery of tuk tuk driving before we got on the road to visit a local Buddhist temple where OA gave us a great insight into Buddhism. Then it was onward and upward to the elephant sanctuary where we were given lunch, which was excellent, before feeding the elephants. Amazing animals.
Then we walked with them to a nearby river to enjoy bathing together. Another amazing heart warming experience.
Bamboo rafting next. 30 minutes of relaxation as we meandered down the river before returning-to the Tuk Tuk for the drive back to our starting point and our final return journey to our hotel.
OA and Graham where great ambassadors to the Tuk Tuk club and did a great job of making us feel welcome and made our day most enjoyable and informative. A great day was has and we would definitely do it again. Thank you OA, Graham and Bruce for a memorable day of joy and happiness.
Highlight of our time in ThailandMy husband and I did a full day Tuk Tuk and rafting tour and it was the best part of our 12 day trip through Japan and Thailand! Our three guides, Tony, A. O., and Mr. Big, were excellent! On top of being such an entertaining excursion, the customer service and hospitality was top notch. Everyone was well educated about the elephants, the locations we visited, and provided interesting and enlightening narrative. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we made our flight out that evening (2 hours after our tour ended). I would strongly recommend this to anyone who is visiting Chiang Mai.
We are hoping to visit again to do one of their longer tours!
Thank you to everyone we worked with for making this such a fantastic experience! I hope our paths cross again!
We travelled on the Tuk Tuk Club 11 day tour last May.I can do nothing but praise every aspect of this journey. The driving, the countryside, the sights, the food, the fantastic tour guides - everything was just perfect, Straight from booking the holiday when Bruce was able to help and answer all manner of questions, through to Graham and Tony our 24/7 guides nothing was too much trouble,I truly could not recommend this tour too highly and I’m lucky enough to have travelled extensively in the past,
1 Day Tuk Tuk Tour - The best tour everBooked the tour via my hostel, pick up at 07:45 at the hostel, by our guide Graham. Picked 2 girls up, so in total 3 persons + guide. About 30 min drive to the training area. Got an induction by Graham on the Tuk Tuks and did our first rides there. After about 30 min we felt comfortable to drive on the street and also Graham was happy with us.
Ride to the first temple had a walk their got some information about the place by Graham und continued to the second temple.
Again a walk around with details to the place.
Ride about 30min to the elephant sanctuary.
Had lunch their, changed clothes and started right after to feed the elephants. Walked with them to the river and had a bath with them
Ride by car to the start point of the rafting tour, boarded the bamboo float and did the raft which was about 40 min long. Awesome experience :)
Transfer from the end point of the raft to the elephant sanctuary. Changed clothes and had the last ride back to the Tuk Tuk garage. Transfer back to the hostel. Arrived their approximately 17:15.
This was way the best tour I did in Thailand, riding the Tuk Tuk is such a great experience! And also the rest of program is simply amazing.
A big shout out to our guide Graham, such a great guy. He made the day that special... excellent job.
Thanks for that wonderful day
I just can recommend this tour to everybody, it’s worth it !
UNforgettable, spiritual and a once in a lifetime bucket list tickerFirstly I’d like to thank Bruce, Tony, Graham, Yaya and Boon for not only providing one of the best experiences of my life but for becoming great friends who have taught me so much.
From the start, the tour dates didn’t coincide with my travel dates but after contacting Bruce, he made sure that I was able to get on the 5 day tour and he’d get me to the airport in time for my flight.
From day one we had great fun learning how to drive the tuk tuk. Each day just got better and better. 5 days later I’d driven the amazing tuk tuk through the northern rural villages, encountering the friendliest locals. I’d fed, walked and bathed elephants which was just incredible. I’d made my way down a river on a bamboo raft. I’d stood on the highest point of Thailand. I went trekking through nature reserves which had various waterfalls, among the best Iv seen. We’d had lunch on the rocks my the waterfalls in form of traditional fried rice wrapped in banana leaf. Sampled Arrabica coffee direct from the farmers grinder. Id visited mind blowing temples and met monks. This experience was especially poiniont thanks to the calm atmosphere of the regions where the temples stood and Tony’s in depth explanations of the Buddhist way of life and it’s core teachings. It’s a philosophy I am now trying to follow.
There were so many experiences in between which just made this trip so incredible.
I’d eaten the most amazing food and despite the fact that I don’t eat pork, there were many alternatives. The hotels were great and I had absolutely no issues in either of the hotels I stayed at. My only regret is I never did the full 11 day tour.
This was my 4th trip to Thailand and I can safely say thanks to the incredible staff, Katie (my tuk tuk) and the incredible region of Chiang Mai, it was the best!
I could not recommend this enough! I went to Thailand alone and despite that the group I was part of was an amazing collection of people of which I’d like to now call friends. We had plenty of fun nights drinking beer, laughing and connecting with people from all walks of life.
Make this the last review you read and book your place now. It’s one of the best things Iv ever done!
Thank you The Tuk Tuk Club. You were more than just a tour for me
ITINERARY
07:45
You can
either meet the group at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel at 07:45, or we will pick
you up from your hotel between 08:00 and 08:30, (note – pick up’s can only be
provided for hotels inside the Chiang Mai ‘middle ring road’) and then transfer
by minivan to our base for the day nestled in the Mae Wang valley.
09:30 (APPROX)
On
arrival in Mae Wang, at around 09:30, our team will introduce you to your Tuk
Tuks and begin your driving training. If you don’t want to drive a Tuk Tuk,
don’t worry, you can enjoy the joys of nature’s air-conditioning from the
breeze in in the back.
NOTE: all drivers
must be aged 18 or over and hold a valid manual driving license.
10:30AM (APPROX)
The Tuk
Tuks are pretty easy to master and once everyone is feeling comfortable behind
the wheel we’ll head through tiny rural roads, snaking through farming villages
and past rural Temples. One of our guides always drives the lead Tuk Tuk making
sure that you don’t lose your way and no-one is tempted to go too fast!
With frequent stops to explore and,
importantly, make sure everyone has a good opportunity to drive, you’ll get a
great insight into real rural life in Northern Thailand. Something that’s not
as easy to come across as you’d think.
11:30AM (APPROX)
By late
morning we’ll arrive at the elephant home where you’ll not only learn about the
past, present and future of the Thai Elephant but also have the opportunity to
interact with them.
Once
you’ve been introduced to the elephants – who have been taken out of a life of
trekking and can no relax and enjoy their time more naturally – you’ll be able
to help the mahouts feed them.
After
you’ve fed the elephants it’s time to sit down to a some hearty and filling
Thai food, right next to the elephants giving you the opportunity to continue
watching the elephants and seeing how they interact.
1:00PM (APPROX)
After
lunch you’ll walk with the mahouts and their elephants (NOTE: No elephant
riding is allowed) through the local countryside to the river where you’ll help
the mahouts wash the elephants – a fantastic experience for you and the
elephants!
3:00PM (APPROX)
Now it’s
time to enjoy some water activities of a different kind as you float lazily
along the local river on a traditional bamboo raft. Don’t worry, there are no
rapids along the way, rather this is a great opportunity to see the local
surroundings from a different angle and have a huge amount of fun negotiating
the twists and turns of the river.
4:OOPM (APPROX)
It’s time
to jump back into your Tuk Tuk and wind your way back down the valley enjoying
your last moments behind the wheel of a real Thailand ‘icon’. The road curves
and sweeps gently down the valley and be sure to have your camera out to catch
the surprise of the local community when they see you driving your very own Tuk
Tuk!
4:45PM (APPROX)
On
reaching The Tuk Tuk Club HQ you’ll transfer back into a minivan and we’ll take
you back to your hotel, arriving around 6:00PM giving you plenty of time in the
evening to reflect on the incredible day you’ve had and the fact that you’re
now a member of The Tuk Tuk Club!

back in Chiang Mai city
