Driving the Tuk Tuk was just a bonus! We went on a private 3 days/2 nights tuk tuk tour.
And driving our own tuk tuk was very fun.
But the best part was actually when we were not driving.
Especially the first night in the home village of our guide Ken was amazing.
We slept in a tent in his “backyard” (which was a huge open field). And he was preparing an incredible (and huge) meal in his outdoor kitchen (under the banana palm trees).
Next morning (after a great cup of coffee) we were offered to pick strawberries in his mum’s strawberry field before leaving the place.
The trek on the last day to the waterfall was also great. After swimming on the cold water we had a great lunch beside the waterfall.
The best part though was the guide Ken. We didn’t feel like customers – more like his personal guests. He went over the top to make us feel good.
Taking a tour with The Tuk Tuk Club is highly recommended.
The trip was great – from the communication before booking the tour all the way to the end returning to our hotel in Chiang Mai.
We travelled on the Tuk Tuk Club 11 day tour last May.I can do nothing but praise every aspect of this journey. The driving, the countryside, the sights, the food, the fantastic tour guides - everything was just perfect, Straight from booking the holiday when Bruce was able to help and answer all manner of questions, through to Graham and Tony our 24/7 guides nothing was too much trouble,I truly could not recommend this tour too highly and I’m lucky enough to have travelled extensively in the past,
1 Day Tuk Tuk Tour - The best tour everBooked the tour via my hostel, pick up at 07:45 at the hostel, by our guide Graham. Picked 2 girls up, so in total 3 persons + guide. About 30 min drive to the training area. Got an induction by Graham on the Tuk Tuks and did our first rides there. After about 30 min we felt comfortable to drive on the street and also Graham was happy with us.
Ride to the first temple had a walk their got some information about the place by Graham und continued to the second temple.
Again a walk around with details to the place.
Ride about 30min to the elephant sanctuary.
Had lunch their, changed clothes and started right after to feed the elephants. Walked with them to the river and had a bath with them
Ride by car to the start point of the rafting tour, boarded the bamboo float and did the raft which was about 40 min long. Awesome experience :)
Transfer from the end point of the raft to the elephant sanctuary. Changed clothes and had the last ride back to the Tuk Tuk garage. Transfer back to the hostel. Arrived their approximately 17:15.
This was way the best tour I did in Thailand, riding the Tuk Tuk is such a great experience! And also the rest of program is simply amazing.
A big shout out to our guide Graham, such a great guy. He made the day that special... excellent job.
Thanks for that wonderful day
I just can recommend this tour to everybody, it’s worth it !
UNforgettable, spiritual and a once in a lifetime bucket list tickerFirstly I’d like to thank Bruce, Tony, Graham, Yaya and Boon for not only providing one of the best experiences of my life but for becoming great friends who have taught me so much.
From the start, the tour dates didn’t coincide with my travel dates but after contacting Bruce, he made sure that I was able to get on the 5 day tour and he’d get me to the airport in time for my flight.
From day one we had great fun learning how to drive the tuk tuk. Each day just got better and better. 5 days later I’d driven the amazing tuk tuk through the northern rural villages, encountering the friendliest locals. I’d fed, walked and bathed elephants which was just incredible. I’d made my way down a river on a bamboo raft. I’d stood on the highest point of Thailand. I went trekking through nature reserves which had various waterfalls, among the best Iv seen. We’d had lunch on the rocks my the waterfalls in form of traditional fried rice wrapped in banana leaf. Sampled Arrabica coffee direct from the farmers grinder. Id visited mind blowing temples and met monks. This experience was especially poiniont thanks to the calm atmosphere of the regions where the temples stood and Tony’s in depth explanations of the Buddhist way of life and it’s core teachings. It’s a philosophy I am now trying to follow.
There were so many experiences in between which just made this trip so incredible.
I’d eaten the most amazing food and despite the fact that I don’t eat pork, there were many alternatives. The hotels were great and I had absolutely no issues in either of the hotels I stayed at. My only regret is I never did the full 11 day tour.
This was my 4th trip to Thailand and I can safely say thanks to the incredible staff, Katie (my tuk tuk) and the incredible region of Chiang Mai, it was the best!
I could not recommend this enough! I went to Thailand alone and despite that the group I was part of was an amazing collection of people of which I’d like to now call friends. We had plenty of fun nights drinking beer, laughing and connecting with people from all walks of life.
Make this the last review you read and book your place now. It’s one of the best things Iv ever done!
Thank you The Tuk Tuk Club. You were more than just a tour for me
ITINERARY:
Day
1: TRAINING, TEMPLES AND HILL TRIBE VILLAGES
We’ll pick you up at 8:00am from the CHIANG MAI GATE HOTEL in Chiang Mai city and
transfer you to our training base in the lovely Mae Wang valley around 1 hour
from the city.
On arrival at our ‘base camp’ in Mae Wang
at around 09:00 we’ll introduce you immediately to your Tuk Tuk and crack on
with the drive training. This all takes place ‘off road’ and is a thorough session
giving all participants the time to get used to these wonderful vehicles and
master all the controls.
We then head off down winding rural lanes
passing through small farming communities (think classic SE Asia photo ops) and
up to a remote meditation Temple.
After a simple but hearty local Thai lunch
we then we along the back roads up into the mountains towards our overnight
destination of a remote Karen Hill Tribe village. We’re camping here tonight in
the fields (don’t worry – there are showers and toilets available) to get a
real Hill Tribe experience.
In the evening we’ll learn how to cook
jungle style with an open fire and lessons from our Karen hosts before spending
the night under the stars – a real Thai adventure!
Inclusions:
·
Transfer from Chiang Mai Gate
Hotel to our ‘base camp’
·
Full Tuk Tuk orientation and
training

Day
2: MOUNTAINS AND MORE HILL TRIBE VILLAGES
After breakfast we’ll explore the local
area and forest around the village before getting back into the Tuk Tuks and
heading further into the foothills of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest
mountain. With lots of stops to explore and relax this is a fantastic journey
through spectacular mountain scenery and a real insight into this part of the
world.
We’ll stop for a late lunch at a small
roadside restaurant – the real deal in terms of local Thai country fare – and
then head on to Ban Mae Khlang Luang, our overnight base.
Our overnight accommodation is in another
Karen village surrounded by mountains and rice terraces and is the perfect
setting for the second night of the adventure. Once we’ve checked in we’ll
explore the village and see how the community live – and get to sample some of
the best, freshest coffee around!
In the evening we’ll have a traditional
Thai style BBQ in the rice fields, great fun and a real Thailand tradition.

3: TREKKING, WATERFALLS AND BACK TO CHIANG MAI CITY
We head off this morning to explore the
forests around the village in the foothills of Doi Inthanon. The trek is ‘only’ around 6 km but takes us through
fantastic forests and eventually to a series of stunning waterfalls. We’ll have
lunch at the foot of the largest waterfall and there’s plenty of time to swim
in the pool at the foot of the falls.
After lunch we trek downhill out of the
forest and back to the hill-tribe village.
It’s then time to say goodbye to your
trusty Tuk Tuk and transfer back to Chiang Mai city by private minivan. We’ll
arrive back at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel around 4:30pm
