Itinerary

Annapurna Base Camp Trek, also known as Annapurna Sanctuary trekking, is one of the most popular and adventurous trekking trails in Nepal.  The route lies in the lap of the mighty peaks of Annapurna I (8091m), and its sisters Machhapuchhre (6997m – Fishtail Mountain), Annapurna South (7129m) and  Hiun Chuli (6441m).  Starting from the beautiful valley of lakes, Pokhara, the trail stretches through dense rhododendron forests and alongside the windings of the Modi Khola. We pass through bamboo plantations and deep gorges and take in breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains.  With a sense of achievement, we reach Annapurna Base Camp at an altitude of 4130 metres. We are surrounded by magnificent high mountains, and icy glaciers.  It is a memorable scene to be captured by the eyes and the lens of your camera.
The 14 day package trekking through this exceptionally beautiful region of Annapurna Base Camp, will be a once in a lifetime experience.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1310m)
Our company representative will welcome you at Kathmandu airport.  They will be waiting for you outside the arrivals terminal and will be holding a Nepal Gateway Trekking signboard with your name printed on it.  You will then be transferred to your hotel in Thamel.  Our representative will assist you with your hotel check-in and advise you of the evening meeting time with your Kathmandu city tour leader.   Overnight in Hotel – Kathmandu
Day 02:Kathmandu (1310m).  City Tour and Trek Preparation
After breakfast at your hotel, your Kathmandu tour guide will pick you up for the guided city tour.  You will visit a range of UNESCO World Heritage sites.  The historic Kathmandu Durbar Square is an ancient seat of Nepalese royalty and showcases beautiful traditional carved architecture. You will experience the famous Pashupati Nath Temple and cremation site for the Hindu people.  It is located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River.  Swayambhunath is commonly known as the Monkey Temple and you will marvel at one of the biggest stupas in Asia, Boudhanath.  During the evening you will meet your trekking guide who will deliver your trekking equipment (duffle bag, sleeping bag, down jacket etc.).  Take the time to pack and prepare for an early start the next morning.      Overnight in Hotel – Kathmandu
Day 03:Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m)  by Tourist Bus.  6-7 hours.
In the early morning your trekking guide will arrive for the short walk to the Tourist Bus Station.  Sit back and relax for the 6-7 hours comfortable drive along the Prithivi Highway. We will travel alongside the Trisuli and Marshyangdi rivers and pass by beautiful green fields and rural villages. Upon arrival at the beautiful lake city, Pokhara, we will check into our hotel to freshen up, then your guide will take you boating on Fewa Lake and a little sightseeing around Lakeside.     Overnight in Hotel -  Pokhara
Day 04:Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m). 1 hour drive and walking 4 hours.
Breakfast at the hotel, and then we drive to Nayapul, from where our Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins. Today is an easy walking day; being mostly on rough roads. Leaving from Nayapul – a small local village with shops and local restaurants, we reach Birthanthi where your guide will collect the trekking permits. Take in the beautiful scenery of the waterfalls and the forest. Crossing the Modi Khola river, we take the left trail to Thikhe Dhunga for our first night in the mountains.  Overnight in Guest House  -  Tikhedhunga
Day 05:Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m). Walking 5-7 hours. After breakfast, we continue our trek.  After crossing two suspension bridges  it is a  steep climb for 2 hours to reach the village of Ulleri.  It will be a little bit  tough to climb more than 3000 stairs, so we keep in mind “slow and steady”.   The view of Annapurna South from half way up and Hiun Chuli from Ulleri is certainly worth the effort.   After Ulleri, the trail is mostly a gradual uphill with some flat and downhill.   We pass through dense rhododendron and oak forests and the villages of Banthanti and Nangethani.   When we arrive at Ghorepani we will trek for a further 10 minutes to reach the ridge for beautiful panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.   Overnight in Guest House - Ghorepani
Day 06:Hiking up to Poon Hill (3210m) and trek to Tadapani (2630). Walking 6-7 hours.
Today is one of the highlights of your trek. You will be given a wakeup call in the pre-dawn, to get ready for a climb up Poon Hill to observe probably the best sunrise and panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Walking in the dark with help of torch light, we arrive at Poon Hill after 45 minutes to 1 hour’s climbing.  At 3210 metres Poon Hill is one of the best view points in Nepal and can be a mesmerizing and spiritual experience. After some time of observing, wondering and photographing, we head back down to our Guest House for breakfast.  We then pack our bags and trek to Tadapani (2650m) via Deurali and Banthanti.  Along the trail we may see monkeys and birds in the rainforest.  Today will be the one of our favourite trekking days.  Overnight in Guest House - Tadapani
Day 07:Tadapani to Sinuwa (2301m). Walking 7 hours.
After enjoying another sunrise view in the early morning, we have our breakfast while taking in the view of Annapurna South (7129m), Hiun Chuli (6440m) and Machhapuchhre (The Fishtail 6997m). When we start our trekking, we go downhill for 2 hours which can be a real test for your knees. We cross a small stream and then gradually climb to reach the settlement village of Gurjung.   We will have our lunch at Chhomrong, a big settlement village of the Gurung communities. From here you will appreciate how close you are to the beautiful mountains. Back on the trail we go down steps for 45 minutes, cross the Chhomrong Khola and then uphill for about 1 ½ hours to reach Sinuwa where we sleep tonight. Overnight in Guest House - Sinuwa
Day 08:Sinuwa to Deurali (3200m). Walking 7 hours.
Observing a morning view from Sinuwa, we continue our trekking to reach Deurali via Bamboo, Dovan and Himalaya Hotel. Today walking is completely different because we walk though a deep gorge and on the banks of the Modi Khola river.  Some of the highlights of today’s walking will be the background noise of the river, the birdcalls and the chance to see some wildlife including monkeys and Himalayan goats. Overnight in Guest House  - Deurali.
Day 09:Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m). Walking 5 hours
Today is our main day because you will reach your goal.  Trekking from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp is about 5 hours via Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Base Camp. You will be overwhelmed by the scenic beauty of the place, being surrounded by high, snow -capped mountains.  In the afternoon, your guide will take you for a closer view of the glacier and the mountains including Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli, Fishtail and many more. Annapurna I was the first peak over 8000 meters to be climbed. Overnight in Guest House  - Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 10:ABC to Bamboo (2310m). Walking 6-7 hours.
Waking up before sunrise, we take in the magnificent view as the suns’ rays hit the Himalayas.  A photographic opportunity beyond comparison.  Then after our breakfast , we return to Bamboo.  Walking downhill is easier but with a drop of 2000 metres over 6-7 hours,  watch out for shaky legs!  Walking alongside beautiful glaciers and through forests, we arrive at Bamboo at the end of the day. Overnight in Guest House  - Bamboo.
Day 11:Bamboo to Jhinu Hot Spring (1780m). Walking 5 hours.
Leaving Bamboo behind, we climb for 30 minutes to reach Khuldighar where there is an experimental sheep farm.   From here the trail is a combination of gradual climbing, flat and downhill through rhododendron and bamboo fields to Sinuwa.  We trek downhill and then uphill to Chhomrong village after crossing over the Chhomrong Khola.  From Chhomrong, the trail descends very steeply for 1 hour to the village of Jhinu.  Here we drop our bags in our Guest House and pack a small bag for the Hot Springs.  A visit to the hot springs works magic on your tired trekking legs and is a well-deserved break on your return trip from base camp. They are a 20-25 minute walk on a descending path to the river Modi Khola below. Overnight in Guest House  - Jhinu
Day 12:Jhinu to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara. Walking 6 hours and 1 hour drive
Leaving Jhinu, we firstly descend, cross the river and follow the “Nepali Mountain Flat” trail (gradually up, flat and downhill) all the way to Birethanti and returning to Nayapul.  Here our car will be waiting and we are driven back to Pokhara.  We check into our hotel and your “Happy Hour” starts soon after. Overnight in Hotel - Pokhara
Day 13:Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus.   Overnight in Hotel – Kathmandu
Day 14:Transfer to Kathmandu airport for your onward destination.
