Rich in scenic wonders and history, the Main Salmon River rafting trip drops 1,200 feet in 89 miles, creating some exciting Idaho whitewater rafting. The blue-green waters, known as the "River of No Return," warm up to very comfortable temperatures in July and August for Salmon River rafting and offer calm sections and deep pools perfect for relaxing, swimming, and simply absorbing the country's splendor. You'll enjoy sandy camping beaches backed up to pine forests and granite mountains. Here, wildlife abounds and rock paintings left by ancient inhabitants still exist.

As this year will be my 60th my eldest son Paul asked me if I fancied a trip down the Grand Canyon. Well I've been lucky enough to trek to Everest Base Camp and balloon over the Serengeti so with fingers crossed I said yes. This was a truly wonderful trip, especially as I did it with my eldest son Paul. The Canyon was always somewhere I hoped to go and it was right up there with Everest Base Camp. There were some great people on the trip and the Catain Steve and Johny FU helped make it special with great stories (I bought the book) and wonderful food. I loved my time on the forward deck and the great views of a very special place as well as the thrill of fantastic rapids. Whatever age this is a trip that everyone , who can, should make in their lifetime, particularly with family or close friend(s).

Itinerary
DAY 1 & 2 » Deep in the splendor of an alpine canyon, your adventure begins. Moderate rapids such as Kill um, Rainier and Devil’s Tooth will get you ready for the more challenging rapids that lie downstream. Stop at Barth Hot Springs, one of the best hot spring pools on the entire river. Relaxing time on the river and at camp gives time to absorb the splendor of the surrounding mountain wilderness.
DAY 3 - 5 » Through a mile deep, heavily-forested canyon, you’ll run Salmon Falls, Big Mallard, Elk Horn and several other exciting rapids. Explore Campbell’s Ferry Ghost Town and Buckskin Bills Compound. Lower in the canyon, thick forest gives way to steep granite cliffs. Large sandy beaches and glass-like pools provide favorite play spots for swimming and beach volleyball. Top off your final day with two of the largest rapids on the trip – Chittam and Vinegar Creek. After lunch, you’ll enjoy a scenic ride to the resort town of McCall Idaho.
