We’ll set off on our bike tour of Mendoza to discover the celebrity status of the Malbec grape firsthand, cycling the glorious landscapes of Andean foothills. A full 70% of Argentina’s wines are produced in the province of Mendoza. Of these, Malbec is the star. On bike, we’ll meander through these prestigious Lujàn de Cuyo and Uco Valley vineyards, stopping to taste their vintages.

Our entrée into Argentine culture is the city of Mendoza, with its sprawling, green parks and heady aura. We will bicycle out of the city to meet locals inspired by this land – a revolutionary winemaker who put his country on every oenophile’s map, a beer brewer with a worldwide following despite his modest operation, and a trout farmer who invites us to lunch.  Along the way, dine on unrivaled local cuisine and relax in luxury lodges, the Andes ever-beckoning. You will soon discover why Mendoza is listed among the “Great Wine Capitals of the World!”

We had a great time, we were able to get into places that were closed and the guides seemed to know everyone, everywhere we went. Very knowledgeable about the area, wine, and architecture. Great biking, small roads - no traffic.

Those kinds of numbers would make one think that this is a part-time operation in someone’s basement. Not so. Jerome is now distributing to several states in the U.S. After the private visit, we will transfer over to lunch at Potrerillos.
