Often when we think of Rajasthan, our vision is of Rajput warriors, forts and palaces. But there is a side of Rajasthan that epitomizes a more gracious, gentler and slower lifestyle, an area that sees less tourists and is extremely rich in culture and the arts.

On this unusual tour through India, you sample the folk art of the Shekhavati area, the Rat Temple of Bikaner; the tribal world of Jojawar, family life of Shahpura Bagh, the desert citadel of Jaisalmer, and the gentle beauty of Udaipur.

We stay at the smaller palaces and hunting lodges that are managed by the families who own them, enjoying the sometimes quirky service that is ever so much part of India´s magnificent inheritance. The climax is the much heralded art of the Taj Mahal.
