Travel Laos from Chiang Rai by boat to the World Heritage City of Luang Prabang, up to Vientiane, and then on to the south and the very tip of the country. Along the way, you can get to know the people, visit Laotian remnants of the Angkor dynasty, take a variety of boat rides along the Mekong, see some of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls, and stay at wonderful small palaces and inns. Of course there is also time for exploring the villages to find wonderful silk weavings, shopping for silver, carvings, and precious stones. You may even want to have some Laotian shirts or skirts made.
