Imagination. Curiosity. A sense of adventure. A search for the mysterious and unknown. These are but a few of the reasons that compel us to travel to exotic and far-flung destinations, to abandon for a time the confines of our daily lives and seek the rewards gained through discovery.
More than ten years ago we founded Eco-Expeditions in order to explore with like-minded travelers the shrinking wild places and ancient cultures of the earth. We began by leading programs to such stellar natural history destinations as Antarctica, Madagascar, and the Galápagos, and over the years have expanded the scope of our activities to include expeditions on all seven continents.
Since its inception, Eco-Expeditions has followed a relatively simple, yet highly effective and successful, formula. We begin with an initial concept, thoroughly research and design our itineraries, then execute our programs using field leaders who possess comprehensive knowledge of the regions we visit.
Not only do we constantly seek new lands, we also devise novel ways to reveal the world to travelers. In 2000, drawing on experience we’d accumulated over the years, we inaugurated Africa by Air, using a privately chartered aircraft to present the wonders of an entire continent. These departures quickly took a place among our signature programs, and we’ve added a similar air journey through South America.
Though we’ve increased the number of our departures, we’ve always kept the number of participants on each departure small. This allows us to travel off the beaten path to where the wildlife resides, facilitates closer contact with the peoples we encounter, and gives us an excellent leader-to-traveler ratio. By traveling in small groups we also lessen our impact on the regions we explore.
Preservation of the wild is central to our philosophy. We introduce travelers to exotic, often highly endangered wildlife in the hopes of creating environmental advocates. Travel also provides an alternative means of income to the people of the regions we visit, replacing logging or other habitat-destroying practices. And, when not in the field, we contribute both time and resources to organizations working to protect the environment.
A journey with Eco-Expeditions is not simply a vacation. It is an exploration into the hidden corners of our world. We hope you return enriched by what you have seen and with a greater understanding of our planet’s gifts.
I like Zegrahm because you care about making our trips the BEST! Super people lecture and are friendly and nice people to be with on the trips. Your trips are fun and you "go to the well for us." You change plans when it is in our best interest.
Our trip to the Falklands, South Georgia, and Antarctica was an incredible experience! The expedition team made sure we saw even more than we ever expected to see. They showed us the Antarctica they have grown to love in such an up close and personal way. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime.
Zegrahm manages to get into places nobody else serves. We like the lecturers who are a cut above, the passengers who are well-traveled and well-educated, and still seeking new worlds to explore.
