From Kaiteriteri, cruise along the magnificent Abel Tasman coast. View the fascinating seal colony on Tonga Island before disembarking at Awaroa.

Enjoy lunch at the Awaroa Lodge & Cafe (additional cost). Please make your own booking with the cafe. You can take your own picnic lunch if you prefer to relax on the beach.

Relax in the restaurant, on the golden sands, explore the largest tidal estuary on the spectacular granite coast or take a walk.

From Awaroa, walk 1 hr 45 mins (4.7 kms, 3 miles) over a forested saddle and along the golden expanse of Onetahuti Beach.  Pick up is at 2.50 pm from picturesque Tonga Quarry Bay where an abandoned granite quarry site still holds interesting evidence of this failed historic venture. A small tidal creek at Onetahuti can be crossed comfortably 3 hours either side of low tide, so make sure you check the Tide Times.
