The Tuk Tuk Club delivers Northern Thailand's most innovative and unique adventures. Putting the traveller behind the wheel of Thailand's most iconic vehicle - the Tuk Tuk - we take you deep into the heart of Northern Thailand, exploring off-the-beaten track hill tribe communities, trekking through the stunning forests, meeting and learning about elephants at small ethical homes, eating some of the greatest food the country has to offer and experiencing incredible winding mountain back roads.
We travelled on the Tuk Tuk Club 11 day tour last May.I can do nothing but praise every aspect of this journey. The driving, the countryside, the sights, the food, the fantastic tour guides - everything was just perfect, Straight from booking the holiday when Bruce was able to help and answer all manner of questions, through to Graham and Tony our 24/7 guides nothing was too much trouble,I truly could not recommend this tour too highly and I’m lucky enough to have travelled extensively in the past,
1 Day Tuk Tuk Tour - The best tour everBooked the tour via my hostel, pick up at 07:45 at the hostel, by our guide Graham. Picked 2 girls up, so in total 3 persons + guide. About 30 min drive to the training area. Got an induction by Graham on the Tuk Tuks and did our first rides there. After about 30 min we felt comfortable to drive on the street and also Graham was happy with us.
Ride to the first temple had a walk their got some information about the place by Graham und continued to the second temple.
Again a walk around with details to the place.
Ride about 30min to the elephant sanctuary.
Had lunch their, changed clothes and started right after to feed the elephants. Walked with them to the river and had a bath with them
Ride by car to the start point of the rafting tour, boarded the bamboo float and did the raft which was about 40 min long. Awesome experience :)
Transfer from the end point of the raft to the elephant sanctuary. Changed clothes and had the last ride back to the Tuk Tuk garage. Transfer back to the hostel. Arrived their approximately 17:15.
This was way the best tour I did in Thailand, riding the Tuk Tuk is such a great experience! And also the rest of program is simply amazing.
A big shout out to our guide Graham, such a great guy. He made the day that special... excellent job.
Thanks for that wonderful day
I just can recommend this tour to everybody, it’s worth it !
UNforgettable, spiritual and a once in a lifetime bucket list tickerFirstly I’d like to thank Bruce, Tony, Graham, Yaya and Boon for not only providing one of the best experiences of my life but for becoming great friends who have taught me so much.
From the start, the tour dates didn’t coincide with my travel dates but after contacting Bruce, he made sure that I was able to get on the 5 day tour and he’d get me to the airport in time for my flight.
From day one we had great fun learning how to drive the tuk tuk. Each day just got better and better. 5 days later I’d driven the amazing tuk tuk through the northern rural villages, encountering the friendliest locals. I’d fed, walked and bathed elephants which was just incredible. I’d made my way down a river on a bamboo raft. I’d stood on the highest point of Thailand. I went trekking through nature reserves which had various waterfalls, among the best Iv seen. We’d had lunch on the rocks my the waterfalls in form of traditional fried rice wrapped in banana leaf. Sampled Arrabica coffee direct from the farmers grinder. Id visited mind blowing temples and met monks. This experience was especially poiniont thanks to the calm atmosphere of the regions where the temples stood and Tony’s in depth explanations of the Buddhist way of life and it’s core teachings. It’s a philosophy I am now trying to follow.
There were so many experiences in between which just made this trip so incredible.
I’d eaten the most amazing food and despite the fact that I don’t eat pork, there were many alternatives. The hotels were great and I had absolutely no issues in either of the hotels I stayed at. My only regret is I never did the full 11 day tour.
This was my 4th trip to Thailand and I can safely say thanks to the incredible staff, Katie (my tuk tuk) and the incredible region of Chiang Mai, it was the best!
I could not recommend this enough! I went to Thailand alone and despite that the group I was part of was an amazing collection of people of which I’d like to now call friends. We had plenty of fun nights drinking beer, laughing and connecting with people from all walks of life.
Make this the last review you read and book your place now. It’s one of the best things Iv ever done!
Thank you The Tuk Tuk Club. You were more than just a tour for me

THE TUK TUK CLUB
RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL POLICY
The Tuk Tuk Club believes passionately that travel, in
particular grass roots, adventure travel, can and should be a force for good,
not only for those travelling but also for the people, communities and
environment that we come into contact with on our adventures and who, of
course, are one of the most significant reasons that people choose to explore
and travel.
The very reason we exist is to give travellers the
opportunity to see Thailand at it’s best, away from the crowds of the more
famous (infamous?) destinations, and to experience the warmth, hospitality and
stunning environment that we fell in love with 30 years ago when organised
travel to Thailand was still in it’s infancy and the laid back, friendly
atmosphere was far more common.
Whilst our core focus is of course on meeting and exceeding
our travellers expectations, and providing the adventure of a lifetime, we also
have a very strong focus on the positive impact we can and do have on the
people and places we spend time with.
Our Responsible Travel Policy has three core
components, Economic, Environmental
and Social,
each of which is outlined below:
ECONOMIC
The Tuk Tuk Club is based in Thailand and we all live, work
and play in the beautiful province of Chiang Mai. All of our guide team are
Thai and passionate not only about what we do but also helping people see,
experience and learn about the best of their country.
·
Throughout all of our adventures we exclusively
use local providers, based in the village / town / community that we are
staying in / passing through. For example, all of our accommodation is owned by
people from the local area, they employ staff from the village / town the
accommodation is based in and they source produce from the local area wherever
possible.
·
We partner with local communities for every
activity we do on our adventures. For example, when trekking near Doi Inthanon
we hire local Karen guides from the village we stay in to lead the trek, not
only to assist in the creation of employment but also to ensure that the
absolute best possible experience is given to our travellers. When we go rafting
we use the skills of local villagers to guide the rafts, this creating
employment opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t exist in the area.
·
All meals on our trips are at small, locally
owned restaurants delivering not only the best food in each location but also
creating a solid source of income for the local community.
·
Our adventures are all about experiencing the
‘real’ Thailand and by following the above course of action, not only do we
ensure that the money spent on our adventures remains very much in the local
community but that our travellers get to experience and feel the ‘real’ country
and have a much more unique experience.
ENVIRONMENTAL
We are very aware of the environmental impact that travel
has on the world, both in terms of the travel itself and our office function.
Head Office:
·
We don’t send out paper brochures – everything
is available online and in PDF format
·
We use recycled paper
·
We encourage all our team to cycle to work
wherever possible – it’s far more fun that sitting in a car and of course keep
us trim so we can eat more of the great food in the area
Adventures:
·
We actively support a local elephant home and
through our collaboration it has been able to stop all elephant riding and lead
the way in its local area in providing a much better life for its elephants.
Whilst riding still takes place in other ‘camps’, more and more are following
the lead of the home we support and understanding that the welfare of the
elephants is the most important element.
·
Single use plastic is a major problem in
Thailand and we are doing all we can to reduce and remove the use of single use
plastic water bottles on our adventures with our target to be single use
plastic free by the end of 2019. Whilst remaining hydrated is very important in
our climate and a suitable source of water throughout any adventure is vital,
we are seeking to replace all single use plastic water bottles with personal
drinking bottles which will then be refilled from large tanks of fresh, clean
water that we transport.
SOCIAL
Our Adventures take part very much ‘in’ the country rather
than simply viewing places as one passes by. Whilst we are very conscious that
our travellers are on ‘holiday’ and are travelling to enjoy themselves, our
team are passionate about people gaining a proper understanding of Thailand and
the areas as travel through and work to ensure that this is part of the
enjoyment of the experience As such, learning about the country and the
positives and challenges for communities, people and the environment makes us a
large part of every adventure. Guidance on arrival, and throughout all
adventures, is provided on social norms and how to behave / dress when visiting
important places, interacting with communities and our guides work hard to
provide translation to ensure that travellers can talk, share and learn from
the people we meet along the way.
A highlight of our longer adventures – 3, 5 and 11 days – is
staying in a small Karen community where members of the village spend the
evening with our travellers talking about their culture and lifestyle as well
as sharing their local food and drink.
